In the age of communication, open conversations about race are vital. This course provides a structured approach to discussing sensitive topics, fostering understanding, and managing emotions. Participants will study the concepts of race, racism, bias, and privilege and explore new ways of thinking and speaking about race. They will be able to engage in meaningful, structured dialogues and counter workplace silence with impactful intervention strategies.
There has never been a time in America more in need of conversations about race than today. The country is facing a major public health crisis, economic uncertainty, ongoing protests of racial inequality, and police brutality against marginalized communities. Yet, people shy away in fear of not knowing how to discuss topics that raise strong emotions. This course presents a structured approach and methods for talking about race that allow for the management of emotions while exploring emotional content.
